Referencing National Qualifications Frameworks (NQFs) to the African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACQF) is a key instrument for strengthening transparency, comparability and mutual trust in qualifications across Africa. By demonstrating how national qualifications framework levels relate to the ACQF levels, referencing supports recognition of qualifications, mobility of learners and workers, and greater understanding of qualifications across countries and systems.

From 11 to 14 August 2026, the Secretariat of the East African Community (EAC) convened a regional technical meeting in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to validate the revised draft of the EAC TVET Qualifications Framework (EACTQF). The meeting brought together experts from EAC Partner States, representatives of national TVET authorities and qualifications bodies, the EAC Secretariat, the International Labour Organization (ILO), and the African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACQF) initiative.

The first meeting of the Southern African Development Community Qualifications Framework (SADCQF) Technical Committee on Certification and Accreditation (TCCA) took place from 17 to 19 June 2026 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The meeting was organised by the SADC Secretariat and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), with support from the ACQF-II project implemented by the European Training Foundation (ETF).
